Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South’s hands-on skills training and United Way’s Truck or Treat event are part of annual Make a Difference Day initiative, designed to start children on a path of empowerment and financial education.
MEMPHIS, Tenn., October 15, 2019 – Volunteer Memphis is partnering with Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South,
United Way of the Mid-South, and Regions Bank to promote financial literacy as part of National Make a Difference Day, October 24 to 26.
The weekend of events will include a kick-off event, Junior Achievement In a Day Programs (JA in a Day) at Springdale Elementary, and
a Truck or Treat event, hosted by United Way. For more information, visit https://www.volunteermemphis.org.
“We are excited to work with great partners like Junior Achievement, United Way, and Regions Bank to launch our financial literacy initiative for this year’s Make a Difference Day,” said Andrea Hill, Director of Volunteer Memphis. “Our goal is to grow this event each year by bringing more community partners and agencies together for National Make a Difference Day. By collaborating with Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South and United Way, we can bring programming to more elementary schools in Memphis and Shelby County.”
For this year’s inaugural event, Regions Bank employees will volunteer with students at Springdale Elementary, where they will teach Junior Achievement’s curriculum in the classrooms. JA’s Programs focus on the importance of earning, budgeting and saving money. Students will also learn how to be active participants in their community and how to develop their skills and talents to build the future they see for themselves.
Volunteer Memphis is challenging the community to participate in National Make a Difference Day 2020. Interested organizations should contact Andrea Hill at ahill@leadershipmemphis.org.
