2017 Grassroots Program
This sequence is designed to bolster the effectiveness of existing grassroots leaders by focusing on ten basic leadership skills, exploring leadership processes and techniques, and demonstrating the "how to" capacities of frontline leaders. The quality and depth of the curriculum are designed for both short and long term benefits for individual neighborhoods and the larger Memphis community.
The Grassroots program targets leaders who are already on the frontlines of community change. Each class represents a strong cross-section of society, including representatives from neighborhood groups, international communities, multicultural associations, law enforcement, faith communities, PTAs, PTOs and other organizations.
The Grassroots program, requires approximately 40 hours, conducted over several sessions from October until March. While participants are expected to attend all sessions and activities, the Opening and Closing Advances are absolutely mandatory. Participants must also engage in an additional 6 hours of community service activities.
Tuition for Leadership Memphis' Grassroots program is $200 and includes programming materials and refreshments. Flexible payment schedules are available. A limited amount of scholarship funding is also available.
