On March 19, 50 Leadership Memphis alumni grabbed a hardhat from Terry Lynch, Hotel Chisca Partner and 2009 Executive Program alum, and entered the 102 year old building for a historic and private tour of the 300,000 sq. foot space in the South Main Arts District.
During the tour, Anthony Pellicciotti of Looney Ricks Kiss, spoke about the construction on the first floor which will be converted into two restaurants; LYFE Kitchen and another, he said is an already popular Memphis restaurant that will be opening another location and will be announced in the coming weeks.
In addition to the original 1913 Hotel Chisca, the Chisca Plaza Motor Lodge (which opened April 27, 1961) will also be renovated into artist lofts with micro living space (around 560 sq. ft.) with gorgeous exposed brick and wall-length floor to ceiling windows (see below).
What used to be the Grand Ballroom will be turned into an outdoor village terrace used for socializing and events. Although they will be filling in the original pool, they will be inserting a tanning pool (shallow pool) on the terrace.
Here's what Hotel Chisca will look like once it's complete in fall 2015. Thanks again to Terry Lynch, Looney Ricks Kiss, and Montgomery Martin for allowing us to take a tour of the renovations!
